Based on the "The Jesuit", the only official and authorized biography of the Pope, this miniseries tells the story of the man that at 76 years old was chosen by God to become Francis, the first Jesuit and Latin-American Pope in history.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio took office as Pope in a critical moment, the church is threatened by scandals and worshippers fleeing, the resignation of Benedict XVI has surprised the world, and the need of recovering a spiritual leader is imminent. "They came for me to the end of the world” were his first words as Pope. But before being Francis, this man came from the far end of America, was born in a humble house of an immigrant family, grew up playing football and hide and seek in his neighborhood’s church, lived through the military dictatorship losing some of his closest friends and had to face inconceivable challenges for a young man who did not suspect what destiny had for him.

"The Jesuit" talks about how the first big challenges the Pope had to take on in the Vatican were, revealing at the same time, following Bergoglio´s memories, the life behind Francis: his past, his loves, his fears and his first big steps.
